Believe in yourself, enjoy your journey, and be a team player.
Hero Digital is happy to feature Belen Corvalan for our Women in Tech series. Belen has been fascinated by technology and communication since childhood. Read her full story below.
As a youngster, I played a video game where any time I lost, the “practice makes the master” message popped up on the screen. When I grew up and started programming, I was able to understand the value of that phrase.
Technology and communication have always fascinated me. As a child, I remember seeing my father working for important American technology companies, and I thought, “One day, I would also like to belong to the technology world.”
Originally starting my studies at a communications-oriented school, I realized that my goal was to contribute to the creation and development of an Internet-centered on user needs.
Outside of my career, I love playing ball sports and engaging in team activities. I’m currently a member of a queer soccer team.
From time to time, I find myself facing Imposter Syndrome. To navigate this, I ask my team or lead what I can improve on, and just keep practicing my skills. I also find mutual support in colleagues going through similar situations.
If there is one piece of advice I would give others, it is to believe in yourself, enjoy your journey, and be a team player.
